FAIRFAX, VA – A national conference on state-of-the-art practice in subsurface utility engineering (SUE) will convene in Washington, DC on September 25-26, the Subsurface Utility Engineering Association announced today.
“An outstanding program of speakers, presentations, and discussion on issues specific to the SUE community will be presented. We’ll focus on new markets, emerging technology, policy and legislation, and innovative business offerings,” said John Berrettini (A/I/Data, Inc., Baltimore, MD), President of the SUE Association. “In addition, we’re hosting a special half-day workshop on the soon-to-be-released update to ASCE 38-02. At this workshop, surveyors, engineers and other SUE practitioners can learn how their firm or organization can be ready to implement the new standard once it is adopted for use in early 2020.”
Formed in 2018, the SUE Association has worked to educate and inform the user community about subsurface utility engineering, grow the SUE market, and promote best practices in the delivery of professional SUE services through ASCE 38-02.
In its first year, the SUE Association was formed, bylaws adopted, a dues structure approved, a board of directors and officers elected, a strategic plan created, and advocacy of SUE has begun.
Building on the success of the organizing conference held in Washington, DC in July of last year, the second SUE Association Annual Conference will be held September 25-26 again at the Capitol Skyline Hotel in Washington, DC.
The conference will feature key officials from Federal agencies, thought leaders in the SUE profession, representatives of technology firms, and discussions on practice and market issues. There are also opportunities to be a sponsor, exhibitor, or to demonstrate equipment or vehicles, as well as networking with peers.
